CwSync allows you to transfer data from the web, local workstation or network to your mobile device using Microsoft ActiveSync with a cable, cradle, or infrared. After you setup CwSync with ActiveSync, you can synchronize your data using a modem or network (Ethernet) card if your device supports it.

Besides seamless integration with ActiveSync, CwSync exposes a powerful set of plug-ins (APIs) that can be used by all COM compliant programming languages, including scripting enable products such as Ms Office as demonstrated in one of the samples. More than just a simple file transfer tool, CwSync can create and quit processes, manipulate the registry both on your CE device as well as in your workstation. You can synchronize different data depending on the device characteristics such as processor architecture, memory available and much more using CwSync system variables and Info View. You could even use it to perform an inventory of all devices in your business.

CwSync uses XML files to configure the synchronization. Configuration files can live in the local workstation, web server (HTTP or HTTPS), FTP server (including passive FTP), network share or SQL server. You can write the non-proprietary XML files in any text editor such as notepad, XML editor such as XML Spy or CwSync Explorer - a tool specially designed to view, update and create CwSync components. Should you opt for a third party XML editor, all the necessary DTDs are included with this package.

You can use CwSync to keep information up-to-date on your CE device every time you perform a synchronization. The change is automatically made to the corresponding information on your PDA. No matter where you go, you know that your precious information will always be with you in your pocket.
